"There’s a real sense of Sturm und Drang at play in the sounds here. A bubbling undercurrent of electronica gives off an early and definite sense of drama and foreboding that never lets up throughout the whole of the disc and makes for a welcome change from all the insipid dance pop out there.
The star and main centrepiece of this compilation is AZitIZ, a hip hop artist from New Orleans who, like all else present here, was one of the winners on the Carbon Logic website, She claims to be inspired by ‘Mother Earth’ and her treatises on life are ably backed here by fuzz and drones which add weight to the lyrics and ensures she’s never allowed to navel-gaze. Indeed, if one had to sum up this disc in one neat little précis, it would have to be – cinematics and drones in equal measures. The disc has the swoop and swagger of the former and the danger of the latter.
This is summer music being released now, to light up the winter months and it will do so in spades, with sparks flying off the finely-honed beats as they joyously collide with a fuzzy grounding of drones and lyrics which cover life, love and everything in-between.
Both give the album a heart that sucks you the listener in and ensures that the music lodges in your head and stays there long after the disc has stopped spinning."
