Ryan Burge AKA YLEM has a diverse musical background. He developed his love for music listening to his parents jam whilst sleeping in the Yamaha DX7 synth case. After playing guitar in a Metal fusion band for a couple of years, YLEM turned his focus to electronic music. Teaching himself the basics of production making Hip Hop and Drum & Bass, YLEM caught a Dubstep set late in 2007 in his hometown of Perth, Australia. This inspired him to explore the half-time grooves and dynamic bass lines of Dubstep. YLEM is now a perpetual beat-maker pointing to influences that chart the spectrum of music.

By mid 2008, YLEM was playing sets comprised entirely of his own Dubstep in clubs and events run by a collective of artists and musicians he is involved with, The Community. This led to the Primaudial Mixtape, an 80min mix of his own productions that enabled him more local exposure. In 2009, YLEM had two releases on US based Dubstep label, Alterkation. He currently has a number of projects in the works, all due for release early 2010.

YLEM is also a promoter for a regular Dubstep night in Perth known as “WattHz”. The night is primarily a platform for local talent but it has also hosted interstate and international DJ’s. On top of this he co-hosts a Dubstep show on local community radio station RTRFM 92.1. YLEM is a Producer/DJ/Promoter with a vision motivated by the grassroots of contemporary underground music culture.
