In September 2009 Carbon Logic launched a search for today's up & coming bass music producers.

During a 4 month period, over 700 Tracks from across the globe were submitted. 700 were filtered to 120. 120 to 82. And finally 82 to the 15 outstanding tracks collected on the Grassroots 12" and LP.

Compiled by Nick Argon (Argon Records), BunZer0 (Sub FM), Twisted (Dutty Dubz) and Will Blaze (3.5 Records), The Grassroots 12" and Companion LP represent the panel's final selection, a snapshot of the rapidly splintering scenes of dubstep, bass music and beyond as we head into 2010.

Nick Argon's winning track was Suspect by 17 year old newcomer Partition. It is accompanied on The Grassroots 12" by a Remix from rising star of the Bristol 'purple sound' Gemmy (Planet Mu) with Argon's runner-up Amusia by Uproot on the B side.

"Heavy dubstep tracks from Partition, Gemmy and Uproot selected and compiled by Nick Argon and friends in aid of the Love Music Hate Racism campaign. Gemmy shines through on his mix of Suspect with his trademark blend of slow-fast 808 rhythms coupled with snaking, arabesque synthlines while the original skanks about on swollen subs and rolling tribal congas. Flip over for Uproot's darkside riddim 'Amusia', crafted for lurking edge-of-the-floor skankers with semi-industrial percussion and black-clad bass." - Boomkat

"Suspect is an incredibly moody tune, with a very prominent stepping bassline. This is a sound-system tune, it just makes you want to move!" - Nick Argon

"Snare drums are very important in dubstep and the snare in Amusia makes you blink, it's so hard!" - Nick Argon
